OM Restaurant | Lounge Executive Chef, Rachel Klein’s range and wildly creative style has made her a standout in the culinary world. Moving to Boston two years ago, Klein has quickly become a local celebrity with a fan base devoted to her must try New American cuisine.
From her early stints with uber-chefs Peter Hoffman (The Savoy) and Anita Lo (Anissa) in New York City to her highly acclaimed run in Providence, Klein has garnered awards at every turn. Most recently, Klein and OM Restaurant | Lounge were named as one of Esquire Magazine's 2006 Top 25 Best New Restaurants in America and to Condé Nast Traveler’s Hot List 2006. Klein has also been recognized individually as Boston Magazine’s Best New Chef and The Boston Globe Magazine’s Best of the New, Top Chef.
Graduating from The New York Restaurant School, now known as The Art Institute of New York City, Klein honed her talents for aesthetic beauty using food as her canvas. Klein’s next step took her to Providence, Rhode Island's culinary scene in 2001, where she made a name for herself as Executive Chef at X.O. Café. While there, she was nominated by Southwest Airlines' Spirit Magazine as one of the top chefs in the United States. The awards and recognition continued, with Sante Magazine, Bistro Magazine and Wine & Spirits Magazine all highlighting her talent. In the spring of 2004, Klein was hired as Executive Chef of the ultra hip restaurant, Lot 401. By the end of that first year, Klein led Lot 401 to national acclaim when it was named by John Mariani of Esquire Magazine, as one of the America's best new restaurants (2004).
